This eye-catching, vintage red (sometimes referenced for this type of item as "ruby red") glass vase is an example of classic Mid-Century Modern (MCM) decor, featuring a distinctive "hobnail" pattern of raised dots. The vase is marked "JADOTS" and "DPS" on the bottom, which have helped me date the piece to the 1960s. It would be perfect as a small table centerpiece, a bud vase, or a retro accent piece for any vintage or MCM home decor.

This pattern of raised dots, variously referred to as bubble dots, hobnail, jadots/jardots, and lardots, dates back to the Victorian era, though its popularity was at its highest during the MCM period. The legendary glassware producer Fenton began production using this pattern of raised dots in the early 40s, and as it grew in popularity, other glassmakers began to produce products in the same style. It was a staple for Fenton but the demand for the pattern made it viable for many other glassmakers of the era.

It is difficult to impossible to trace this to the exact manufacturer as the pattern was used by so many and it wasn't standard practice to put a maker's mark on the piece itself to help us identify it now that it is long separated from any box it might have come in. Despite this, the cheerfully bright red glass with its satisfying tactile pattern would be an excellent addition to many different types of decor.
