Elephant Family Lehmann & Sohn elegant early 20th century plate
This absolutely charming Lehmann & Sohn porcelain scroll-edged plate features an elephant family at the water's edge. The image is detailed, with watercolor-like shading. Lehmann & Sohn produced the finest porcelain, durable enough to still be appreciated and enjoyed over 100 years after its manufacture.
Manufacturer: The mark belongs to Lehmann & Sohn, G.A., a porcelain factory located in Kahla, Thuringia, Germany.
Mark: The mark, a stylized castle or tower with the word "LEUCHTENBURG" arched above and "Germany" below is the stamp on the underside of this plate.
Date Range: This specific "Germany" mark indicates the plate was manufactured for export after 1891 (due to changes in U.S. import laws) and typically dates to the early 20th century. Similar plates were released during the 1910s and 1920s by Lehmann & Sohn, making it a likely timing for this plate's manufacture date.
This plate also features a hanging hook on the back for easy, secure display on your wall (see last photo for reference).
