1940s/50s Mother of Pearl Heart Shaped Locket w/ Cross, incl. matching chain

This lovely locket is a real treasure from the previous century. Based on the manufacturing details of the hinge, the bail connection, and the stamp inside the locket that confirms the gold content ("1/20 10K G.F." , which means 1/20th 10-Karat Gold-Filled), I put this locket and most likely the chain as well as a piece from the 1940s or 1950s at the latest. This is consistent with the level of wear on the nacre on the front around the cross, as well as in the scratch on the reverse side of the locket. The included chain, which appears to be original based on the similarity of the wear/finish to the locket, is 18" long.

What a truly meaningful first communion or baptism gift this would make, a piece that has already stood the test of time for more than 75 years.

Condition notes: This locket is in great structural shape. The open/close of the locket seems to still have good action. The bail seems to be securely attached. The chain is clean and unblemished, with a secure spring ring clasp. The mother of pearl has retained its pearlescence, though it shows some wear around the central cross. There is a scratch in the gold surface on the back of the locket.
